Election Fraud Experts, indeed
OK, so Wizbang is hosting blog awards for 2004. People are encouraged to vote for the Best Of in vaious categories.
And the nutters at DailyKos think cheating is OK. These are the same folks that still think the 2004 election was rigged (at least some do).
The resaons why cheating is OK, according to these worthies:
It's Kevin's (at Wizbang) fault for having such an insecure site
It's run by right wing nuts, (with some mistaking Wizbang for LGF) so it's ok to cheat. (so long as you don't like the sponsor, screw them. mmmm)
It's what the rethuglican's are doing, but not advertising
Nothing we could do is as bad as being a conservative, so this is ok.
Anyway, at least a few of the regulars see this as a bad thing, pointing out that it isn't helping the blogs image, and that the DailyKoss was a shoe-in for one of the top honors without cheating.
What you think of Markos and his crowd... this just likely re-enforces it, whether you agree with this bit of childishness or not.
But if you are willing to cheat, and cheat with pride, at something this innane and small, really, how can you be trusted when the stakes matter?
Of course, the worst of it is, Markos hasn't come on line, 24 hours after the start, to say anything like "Knock it off" or anything that would indicate he condems this sort of thing. Given the pettiness and long memory of the blogoshpere, this isn't going to go away anytime soon. And will crop up any time elections are in the public debate. Still, maybe he's enjoying his weekend and is blissfully ignorant of the last day and half. I know. But I like to think good things about people. Remember, I am a former liberal dem, and old habits die hard. I still like granola, too, btw.
UPDATE
And the plot thickens. Wampum is in on the act. Amybe after the Eagles game I'll try to figure out a timeline. But I doubt it. Someone else will have one by then, and to be honest, I don't have a horse in the race for "Biggest Ass in the Leftern Blogosphere.
Still, Wampum at least has some decent logic to the why behind the posting, and the why for keeping it up. And you have to have a something like a clue to implement Eric's (EBW) observations.
