A planet where apes evolved from MAN?!?

It is always funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's hilarious.

The Game

OK, it is half time.
7-7
I am on the edge of my seat.
And the wings are not sitting well.
But bow I can get up and get some antacid.
I have a stainless steel stomach.  That tells you where things are, that I need to pop some tums.  Luckily, the GF left hers here a month ago.
I think the defense of both teams are the real show, but the mutiple threat offence of the Eagles will trump the Pats.  Brady has good supporters, and I think he is better than McNabb.  But he doesn't have Owens, Mitchell and Westbrook.  Hell, even Stinkston has shown up to play.
My original call was 27-20.
I think I will reivse that to 17-10

HT:
PM is surpisingly good.  I half expected the mummy dust to come rasping out of his throat as the wheeled him from out the crypt.
But he's in good form.
ANd  a simple red shirt, no fancy costume.
And a muted, by SB standards. light and stage show.
Could it be that substance matters agaon?  That maybe, either FOX or the NFL understand that a good show will hold us better than a spectacle?  And that a real star is better than a has been and a fizzling boy-bander?
Honestly, who in America doesn't know the songs PM is singing?  Nobody.

And I officially HATE the Mustang commercial.
But I like the monkey/office commercial.  Anyone who has heard me bitch about being surrounded by monkeys will know why.  Or has heard me call the latest doomed project plan "Simply Chimptastic".

Ah... 9:13, and 14-14
Oddly enough, Ed and CQ predicted 41-24.
I've already revised my score as too high.
We'll see how it plays out.
But to everone that thought the Pats would walk over the Eagles... Thfffppppttttttt :P

Oh well.... I'll say this... it was a good try.  Mistakes were made, but this was no blowout, and nobody can claim the Eagles are anything but a Superbowl caliber team.  Yeah, the NFC was weak this year, but  what teams in the AFC would have shown us a game like this?
WEll, tomorrow, the New Englanders will be crowing, and plenty of people in Philly will be finding an excuse for the loss.  From TO not being up to form, to Pinkston getting hurt.
The short story, the better team won.  But they had to work for it.

Eagles of futures past

Got this in my email today.  Very nice.  No idea who wrote it, so no direct hat tips or props :(

BTW, my line in the sand, at least until we hear the real report on TO next week, is 27-20, again, and for the Eagles

As the city celebrates and the Birds prepare the first of what will
hopefully be many Super Bowls in the Reid-McNabb era, I think it's
appropriate to, remember all those past Eagles from our lifetime who never
got a chance to play in this game but sure made their mark and helped make
Eagle football and Eagles Fans what we are on this glorious day.

So without further adieu...

Who Is This One For?

This one's for Randall "Let Me be Me" and his Ugly Flap, because he was
Mike Vick and Donnie Mac before there was Mike Vick and Donnie Mac.

This one's for Ricky "For Who, For What" Watters, who gave Gruden the
finger long before Chucky broke our hearts, and who refused to go over the
middle long before Pinky "lost it in the lights."

This one's for Buddy's Boys " "the Greatest D ever assembled" Clyde, Seth,
'Dre Waters, Wes Hopkins, Byron Evans, Mike Pitts, Izel "Toast" Jenkins,
Mike Golic, Eric Allen, Ben Smith, and especially 1, 2, 3 J.B. #99. Bring it
Home for Jerome.

This one's for the late, great Minister of Defense, who won a Super Bowl in
Green Bay, but deserved one in Philly. We know he's smiling down on Philly's
faithful today.

This one's for The Bounty Bowl, the Fog Bowl, The Body Bag Game, the Inch
That Stole Christmas, 4th & 26th and all the other classics over the years.

This one's for Arkansas Fred Barnett and Calvin Williams, Chris T. Jones,
Freddie Solomon, and Irving Fryar. It ain't, however, for James Thrash,
Charles Johnson or Torrance Small. Sorry boys.

This one's for Mike Mamula and his half-a-sack, Mike Mcmillan and all 5
foot 9 of him, Richie the K and his laminated sheet, the Doug Pederson Era,
and Tommy Hutton who bobbled the snap on Monday Night in Dallas.

This one's for Willie T, and Mike Zordich, two guys who could've played for
Jim Johnson's defense any day.

This one's for Guy McIntyre, only because he is forever Lou Tilly's "Guy
in the Room."

This one's for Stan Walters and Merrill, who proclaimed it Groundhog Day in
December because "They give it to Smith and they stopped him AGAIN!!!"

This one's for, Tony Bruno, Tom Brookshire, G Cobb, The Cuz, Big Daddy
Graham, Angelo, Arson Arnie and the rest of the Dirty 30 who always
brightened the Monday morning drive because you knew someone was out there
who shared your pain.

And it's even for Wolfman Eskin, and his "Stone Cold Mortal Locks", always
there to infuriate you on the ride home.

This one's for Al Morganti, who created Wing Bowl and gave us something to
talk about, care about and laugh about before all those Super Bowls the
Eagles weren't in.

This one's for Herm Edwards, who gave us "The Miracle at the Meadowlands."

This one's for Vai Sikahema punching the goalposts and the ageless wisdom
of B-Mitch.

This one's for Bobby Hoying, who was Ben Roethlisberger before there was
Ben Roethlisberger.

This one's for "Who Framed" Roger Ruzek, Gary Anderson, and Chris Boniol,
none of whom would stand a chance against David Akers in a street fight.

This one's for Lester Holmes, Antoine Davis and all the other draft busts
that we'd like to forget.

This one's for Bobby T and Troy V, who left just a little too soon but
paved the way for Lito and Sheldon. It's not for Al Harris, who's still
committing pass interference somewhere in Green Bay.

This one's for Damon Moore, who chased and finally caught Ron Dixon at the
4-yard line as the Giants tried, but failed, to pull an 80-yard hook and
ladder to prevent us from winning the division for the first time in
decades.

This one's for Brandon Whiting, who went to San Francisco in exchange for
some guy named Owens.

This one's for Duce, who, thankfully, took the Championship jinx with him
across the state to Pittsburgh.

This one's for the endless chants of DALLAS SUCKS, DALLAS SUCKS!!!

But lastly, most of all, this one is for all the Philly Phaithful of Eagles
Nation who've invested their blood, sweat, cheers and tears into this team
and never stopped believing that one day, some day, THIS DAY would arrive.
How sweet it is!!!

Now let's go beat the Pats in Jacksonville!!

Send this along to everyone you know and add whoever you'd like to the list
to guarantee a win in Jacksonville!

Destiny

27-10.
My call last week, was 27-20.
By half time, it was clear that the Eagles were meant to win.
Kearse, Dawkins, Mitchel, Westbrook, Donovan.  And JL says TO will be back in the game for the Super Bowl.
I want the Steelers to win.  Turnpike bowl, baby!  And we need payback for that forst defeat of the season.  Still, beating the Pats would be nice, too. :)
Right now, there is a full moon over Philly.  I can hear the fireworks here in my living room.
I have been waiting for this since I was in grade school.
Now, for the AFC...
to quote a great man...
"Bring.  It.  On."

Don't let up the pace

Eagles vs. Redskins: 8:30 PM EST.
Of course, I'm calling it as an Eagles win.  I just hope to see the Birds take this seriuously, and keep the pressure on themsleves, even if the 'skins do not.

Gbaja-Biamila and Sharper are Donovan's bitches

OK, it's 6:49PM, EST, and the Eagles are dominating the Packers.  I called this as a 24-20 game, and I could not be more glad to be wrong.
41-3 and there is still 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
I do not see the Packers getting 6 touchdowns in the next 20 minutes of game time.
OUCH.
Westbrook, btw, is the man today.  Clearly the MVP for the evening.

At this point. Andy should pull Westbrook and Donovan and some of the others out, and let the 2nd string offense get some practive against real team.
Or they can just run up the score.
Next week, the second meeting of the Eagles and the Redskins. And I think it will be the Eagles again.
Dallas won't be a threat.
Neither the Bengals.
That leaves St. Louis....
But no matter what, tonight cements the Boyds ownership of the NFC.

Green Bay

OK, last post before going to the train.

Sunday, the Green Bay Packers face off agains the NFC leaders, the Philadlphia Eagles.

Eagles win @ 24-20, I call.

However, GB is a good, good team.  Luckily, the Boyds have home field advantage, and very few teams win a Sunday game after a Monday game.  Last team to do that was.... let me check the almanac... the EAGLES.  Granted, that was against the Cowgirls.

Still, Sunday night, we'll see if I am crying in my beer. (though no matter what happens, the Eagles own a spot in the playoffs already)
