A planet where apes evolved from MAN?!?

It is always funny until someone gets hurt. Then it's hilarious.

Click For Cathy!

Link: Day By Day by Chris Muir, cartoon for: 8/10/2005.

08102005_1

All,

Chris Muir, the very, very funny man behind Day by Day, needs our help.  And it will only take a moment of your time and not a cent of your money.  Chris' sister, Cathy, is in residence at The American Cancer Ablation Center.  To get extra publicity for the good work they are doing, Chris wants to boost their ranking in the search engines in time for CNN's broadcast.  So please, click on the comic or the link below.  Bloggers, please spread the word, provide links and trackbacks, and show the Muir family some love and support.

An honor just to be nominated

Not that my caption contests have gotten much traffic, but...

I am a winner (#3) of the last Wizbang caption contest.

And Tom got the booby prize.

I think he would have been a  contender, if only he hadn't picked at a sore that Kevin would rather see heal over.  But I guess Tom was one of those kids that thought scabs were just natures potato chips....

But, since timing is everything in comedy... no dice.

Still, if it makes you feel any better, a few months ago when crapping on Soros' lapdog was the topic of the day at Wizbang, my entry would have fizzled as well.

Heh, I kinda like that imagery.  "Like a Cleveland Steamer to Blogging"

Ever look at your visitor stats?

For you other bloggers... ever look at your visitor stats?
Every so often, when I am board and have nothing better to do (ok, lack the energy/mojo) to do anything better, I follow back the links that visit me.
Today's ?!? moment:
First, the background.  My good friend Kristen is re-marrying her husband Ray on April 2nd.  They eloped last year, but this time it's for family and friends to come, share the love, drop off gifts, etc.
Kristen is from, the wedding is located in Lititz, PA.
I follow back a link today, to a gal's blog here in Philly.  She too, is from Lititz, PA.  Odd.  The world works in misterious ways.  That, or maybe Kristen knows her too, and is cruising the blogs tonight.  Who knows?
Not as fun and odd as following links from the google searches that bring flies into my web... But weirder.

The absence

OK, I am back.

Why was I gone?
A few reasons.  Some good, some lame.
In no particular order

  • School has restarted for me.  The 5 week courses I am taking can be rough.
  • Work has been very, very busy
  • A certain amount of soul searching, which last night has lead to a rather large change in my life.  There may be more, so I will discuss this on another day
  • The weather.  The wind, the rain, the snow/ice storms.  Does no good for my mood, and makes work  harder (working for a utility and all that)
  • My nutty neighbors... this, I think, will deserve its own category in the future.  If I get an hour or three free, I think I can fill you in on the background.  Here's a teaser: they've put an above ground pool in their FRONT yard.
  • Lack of sleep.  Never a good sleep I, but bad lately.  The soul searching and high stress at work are big contributors.  Last night will, I hope, put some of that to rest.  We shall see.

So, what would I have blogged about, had I been here?
Again, no order of significance

  • Immigration and the south western Minutemen.
  • The courtroom shooting in Atlanta, and how it has been 'played' in the Philadelphia media.
  • The sentencing of Prof. Tracy McIntosh.
  • Philadelphia's City Council and their plans to ban smoking in public accommodations
  • Same council's upcoming vote on requiring all companies that do business with the city to prove their historic relationship with slavery.
  • My nutty neighbors.
  • Lt. Pantano
  • The Il Manifesto journalist and her kidnapping, release and near death moment at the checkpoint.  And the bogosity (is that a word?) there of.

Anyway, break time is over, the work day is set to begin.

I have a contractor coming out tonight to bid on siding, and then homework that is due tonight.  Maybe I'll blog tonight, maybe I won't.  But I will respond to the handful of comments that came in during my absence.

I got blogrolled. Not to be confused with bogrolled.

OK.  Maybe it's not a big deal.  But it's my first 'rolling from the high end of the blogosphere.

With only a slight bit of prodding (gentle ribbing, really), La Shawn put me on her list.  I'm in the "Right" category, and by virtue of the alphabet, right near the top.  Clever marketing, starting with A, eh?

So, anyway, that was good new to me, when I got an email pointing out that I was listed.  A nice warm feeling.  Like peeing in the bath tub.  But not icky and dirty. Like peeing in the bath tub.

Sadly, there is no 'live' thread to track back to.  But I will anyway, to an older one, discussing the drive to get more traffic.  Not that my 5-10 readers will add to her traffic, since most of them came from her site anyway :)

BTW, just because I found it weird... most of my traffic comes in from google.  A combination of the blog name and the subject matter seems to be very google friendly.  Some people stay and read, other pop-away as soon as they see this isn't an Eagles site or a real Boxer '08 or whatever site.

The next big sector of traffic is from people hitting my name in other blogs comments sections.  This is followed by trackbacks and hatips I've left for other blogs.  Finally, come the links I get from other blogs.

And Tom. :) lol

Oh well, break's over, time to get back to the real world.

The Year in Review

It's been making the rounds on a # of blogs, so here's mine.  I know, slow day.  But I've been slowly filling this in all week.  That's sadder still, I guess.

Anyway, if you care....

Welcome Back my friends, to the show that never ends

Welcome Back my friends, to the show that never ends...
That was going to be the original title of this blog, then it was going to be the flavor text.  But instead of Pete Sinfield, I went with Chuck Heston (you have to read the title, with your lower jaw protruding and all tendons in you body taught) and Faith No More.
